I can't decide if I am going to or not... I'm already signed up for one holiday timed challenge, and historically I've been barely able to handle *one*. On the other hand, *Yuletide*. *sighs* *toggles nomination page* -------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.

Gakked most lately from, oh let's say, derryderrydown. I've never played this game before, so who knows how it'll turn out, but does anyone want me to do a DVD style commentary on any of my fics (and/or other fanworks, why not)? Most of my writing can be found in my fic tag and/or AO3 account.

re: Wonder Woman's new origin The most amusing (read: "amusing") thing is that a couple years ago, I was discussing Wonder Woman with someone who offered that "Wonder Woman makes guys uncomfortable." Me: What, cause she can beat them up? Her: No, because no man was involved in her genesis. Simply by her *existence*, she's a threat to the assumption of male necessity.* But of course, I did not take this theory very seriously! People the joke is on: ME. *English major. I am paraphrasing, but I got the impressing she'd just finished an essay on the topic.-------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.

From here: In DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, Wonder Woman will have a new origin, in which she is the daughter of Hippolyta... and Zeus! In recent interviews, writer Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang have teased that readers should expect the unexpected in this edgier, horror take on the superhero genre and the king of the gods will ensure that nothing goes as planned for his defiant daughter.
Originally created by the goddess Aphrodite and raised to perfection on the Amazon island of Themiscyra, the newest incarnation of Wonder Woman has a new costume and now a new origin but she remains Wonder Woman. Yes that is what the Wonder Woman story was missing. A father figure with control issues. I don't understand why everything is terrible for always. -------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.

Just now saw a picture of the rebooted Amanda Waller -- here's a link, which leads to a comic book rendering of a thin, young, conventionally attractive woman in a cleavage shirt and glossy red lipstick. Also she appears to be smiling somewhat vacantly. Which would be fine, if it was ANYBODY BUT AMANDA WALLER WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK FUCK THIS SHIT. FUCK IT INTO DC COMICS’ FACE. -------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.

Okay, I probably have enough Silly Questions on that last post to keep me occupied for a while, but I'm a little sad because - and I don't know if this is because I announced it would all be ladies? - no one's given me Silly Questions incorporating cracky random relationship/sexitimes assignments. And you all know how I feel about crack ships, right? Anyway, just saying that if anyone wants to drop a couple more questions before I close them, feel free to use this knowledge as an... inspiration... ( ETA: Not to frown at anyone who has given me questions! I do appreciate it and love you totally!) -------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.

After consideration, I didn't sign up for we love the women that the fandom hates. I am not sure I can be trusted to provide new content for each day! However, what I will do to honour the spirit of the fest is open myself up to Silly Questions again! With a catch... my entire list of characters will be female characters who I love and who I've heard at least one disparaging remark about. Yay! As always, the guidelines: 1) Make a list of fifteen characters fictional women who it is a tragedy they are not unanimously agreed to be awesome , and keep them to yourself for the moment.
2) Ask everyone to make up questions in the comments.
For example: "One forces Two and Seven to get married. Is it a happy marriage?" "Five, Six and Twelve form a band! What do they call themselves? Are they any good?" "Why *are* all the other numbers afraid of Seven?"And last time's answers, so you know what you are encouraging. -------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.

Thinking of signing up to the we love the women that the fandom hates fest for, surprise of surprises, Kara Zor-El. If I do, would there be anything you'd be interested in seeing/having me talk about? -------- Crossposted from Dreamwidth, where there are comments.
